Private sellers pay no fees. Buyers pay eBay's Buyer Protection fee on top (10p + 7% of the first £20, 4% from £20–£300, 2% £300–£4,000) — modelled here as 4% + 70p, exact from £20 to £300; it shows a little more than eBay charges under £20 (up to 60p) and more over £300 (about £14 more at £1,000).

Vestiaire Collective
12% selling fee plus 3% payment processing (minimum £3), so 15% on most sales. Under £83 the selling fee is a flat £10, so £13 in all. Over £16,667 it is £2,000 plus 3%. Vestiaire won't list anything under £14. Applies to items listed in GBP from 9 March 2026.

Why platform fees matter
Not all resale platforms work the same way. Some — like Vestiaire Collective — take a commission from you, the seller. Others — like Vinted and eBay — charge the buyer a fee on top of your asking price, so private sellers there pay no selling fee. Depop does both: you pay a payment-processing fee, and the buyer pays a Marketplace fee on top.
That difference matters in two ways. First, how much lands in your pocket after a sale. Second, how competitive your listing looks to buyers — a £50 item costs a Vinted buyer about £53.20 and an eBay buyer £52.70, while on a seller-commission platform they pay exactly your £50 and the fee comes out of your side.
This calculator shows you both numbers so you can make a smarter call before you list. The difference between platforms on a £100 sale can easily be £15+ in your pocket.
